Description
This house suffered from inadequate ventilation in some rooms, which was so noticeable during the winter months that the air conditioner was often used to reduce humidity and the sense of "stuffiness." A whole-house heat-recovery ventilation system was added, with a priority on ventilating these stuffy rooms, to very good effect.
The homeowner had taken a building science class prior to our audit, and he calculates he was able to achieve a 25% decrease in energy consumption just due to conservation measures, with no money invested. With the improvements we recommended, he achieved an additional 22% decrease (compared to before he took the course), for a total reduction of 47%!
