$500 tax credit for upgrading HVAC appliances in 2012 and 2013

Did you have to replace your furnace, water heater, air conditioner, or heat pump in 2012?  You may have been disappointed to see that there were no tax credits as there had been in past years.  But wait -- Congress has just put a tax credit in place retroactively for 2012!  So even though you didn't think you were getting one, now you can!  (Assuming you haven't already filed your taxes.  It pays to procrastinate!)

The credits also apply to 2013, so if you've been hobbling along with old equipment, you can save $500 by upgrading it this year.  As the article points out, that's not nearly as generous as in past years, but it's better than nothing!
