What's Recyclable?

Bins must be at the curb by 8 am on the specified day.  Our routes and schedules are always subject to change, so the time of day we visit your house will vary.

Our guidelines:

  • Recyclables should be empty and reasonably clean
  • You do not have to remove labels
  • Shredded paper must be bagged
  • Break down boxes

You Can Recycle All of These Things:

PAPER

  • Newspapers
  • Shredded paper (must be bagged)
  • Magazines & catalogs
  • Office paper
  • Junk Mail
  • Phone Books

CARDBOARD & PAPERBOARD (break down your boxes)

  • Corrugated boxes
  • Cereal boxes
  • Tissue boxes
  • Paper towel rolls

GLASS (if broken then please bag it)

  • Bottles
  • Jars
  • Lids do not need to be removed from glass containers
  • No window glass or dishes, please

PLASTICS (Just #1 & #2 -- look for the recycling symbol -- and remove all lids!)

  • Milk Jugs
  • Pop bottles
  • Some clamshell containers
  • Laundry detergent bottles
  • Some shampoo bottles
  • empty bottles from motor oil and household chemicals (see below for full bottles)

METAL CONTAINERS

  • Pop cans and metal bottles
  • Aluminum foil
  • Foil pans
  • tin & steel cans
  • Empty aerosol cans

ODDS & ENDS

  • Dead batteries (please bag)
  • printer cartridges
  • fluorescent light bulbs (please bag)
  • motor oil and other automotive fluids (sealed)
  • household chemicals such as cleaners, solvents, pesticides (must be sealed and labeled)
  • paint cans (sealed)
  • plastic shopping bags (must be clean and nested inside each other)

BY ARRANGEMENT ONLY

  • Styrofoam peanuts (bagged), foam sheets, and bubble wrap: call Cecil at 620-343-2415 to arrange pickup
  • Autumn leaves (bagged): email John at jcrisp [at] tctelco [dot] net to arrange pickup

Please note we cannot recycle other plastics at this time.
